Nothing about an owner build tests your patience like septic. The permit came back in May 2023, and the system itself stretched across more than a year of trenching, inspections, and weather delays through 2024 and into 2025.
It is invisible work - buried lines and gravel that no guest will ever see - but without it there is no Certificate of Occupancy and no house. This stretch taught me that on a build like this, the dirt work is the project for a long time before any walls go up.
